Y.O.U. is seeking junior volunteers to help with our elementary out-of-school time programs. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals under 18 years old wanting to enhance their understanding of youth development and to impact youths' lives.
Primary responsibilities of the Junior Volunteer include:
-Help provide academic support in the classroom
-Assist in social and emotional life skills groups
-Engage youth in service learning projects
-Help set up and clean up from programming
-Serve as a role model for youth
-Build positive relationships with youth and promote self-confidence
The Volunteer should have the following qualifications:
-Share a passion for Y.O.U.’s mission and helping youth succeed
-Possess open, nonjudgmental attitudes
-Demonstrate good communication skills
-Be neat and clean in appearance
-Be at least 16 years of age
-Have the ability to commit at least 1.5 hours per week for a minimum of one academic semester
-Have a proven record of dependability
-Be willing to undergo a background check and other requirements
Volunteers will receive an orientation and training in youth development practices and strategies to support their work. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; however, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
