Y.O.U. is seeking volunteers to help with our middle school out-of-school time programs. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals wanting to enhance their understanding of youth development and to impact youths' lives.
Primary responsibilities of the Volunteer include:
-Assist with the delivery of daily lessons that focus on literacy skill development, STEM, social-emotional enrichment, and healthy relationships.
-Tutor or provide homework support for youth.
-Assist with leading daily enrichment groups that focus on art, STEAM, and/or sports and character-building.
-Build positive relationships with youth that support their success and well-being.
-Support delivery of group instruction in a safe and structured environment.
-Supervise youth during program hours in a safe, sensitive, developmentally appropriate, positive manner.
-Help youth build healthy positive relationships with each other, adults, and their families.
-Monitor youth during field trips.
The Volunteer should have the following qualifications:
-Share a passion for Y.O.U.’s mission and helping youth succeed
-Possess open, nonjudgmental attitudes
-Demonstrate good communication skills
-Be neat and clean in appearance
-Be at least 18 years of age
-Have the ability to commit at least 3 hours per week for a minimum of one academic semester
-Have a proven record of dependability
-Be willing to undergo a background check and other requirements
Volunteers will receive an orientation and training in youth development practices and strategies to support their work. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; however, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
